Engaging Youth in Engineering (EYE) Summer Day Camp
(The EYE Camps are a collaborative effort of the Mobile Area Education Foundation and the Gulf Coast Exploreum and are funded by a grant from the Mobile County Commission and the J. L. Bedsole Foundation.)
2009 SUMMER CAMP INFORMATION (click here for press release)
The Mobile Area Education Foundation is offering three week-long day camps for exiting 4th and 5th grade students in the Engaging Youth in Engineering (EYE) elementary schools: Clark, Dickson, Dodge, Fonde, Griggs, Meadowlake and Shepard. The camps will take place at selected EYE school sites and will be led by teachers from the EYE elementary and middle schools and the Davidson HS EPIC program in partnership with the Gulf Coast Exploreum.
During the camp, students will experience engineering through hands-on, creative investigations and building activities. The goal of each camp is to show students what engineering is all about and to expose them to the fact that "engineers' work" is all around them. The week culminates with an end-of-camp celebration that parents and business leaders are invited to attend.
Transportation will be provided daily from the school to the Gulf Coast Exploreum and for fieldtrips or other selected sites. Students are required to bring their own lunch each day. Campers are provided an EYE camp t-shirt and daily snacks.
