B.C. Rain Diploma Plus Academy

"We achieve Success through P.R.I.D.E."

The B.C. Rain Diploma Plus (DP) Academy, which takes a holistic approach to education, began the 2011 school year, serving approximately 55 students. DP Scholars entered the program “overage and under credited”, meaning they had not successfully earned enough credits to be in their proper academic year, prior to joining DP.  The DP Scholars work in four Essential Foundations as outlined by the nationally recognized Diploma Plus Network model: Supportive School Culture, Competency and Performance Based System, Career and Civic Engagement and Future Focus.

This is done by providing each Scholar is provided an Advocate Counselor (AC) for personal relationships and works in engaging, small class environments.  DP Scholars earn high school credits based on content mastery, and have the potential to earn credits and their diploma faster due to the differentiated classroom instruction and performance-based assessments. Throughout the program, Scholars will participate in mandatory internships with industry partners and demonstrate service through their community based service and learning projects.  In addition, community and business leaders serve as mentors.

DP Academy’s primary focus is to work with the Scholars towards becoming a high school graduate, to have earned college credit and workforce credentials and leave DP with the skills needed to be successful in life after high school and beyond.

VISION
Scholars will be empowered through progressive instruction to graduate as life-long learners, well-prepared to pursue their career goals and enjoy life as productive citizens. Parents and the community will share in the success of scholars by providing a safe and nurturing environment that fosters academic and personal excellence beyond the classroom.
