MOBILE COUNTY EDUCATION COMMISSION

The Mobile County Education Commission is the accountability mechanism used to monitor and report progress.

Our mission is to ensure that every child is prepared for entrance into college or a career upon high school graduation.

The Education Commission is a community-wide effort to improve the whole system of education, a systemic reform that results in improved academic achievement for all young people in Mobile. The organization brings together- in a unique configuration- the county’s education, business and civic leaders to plan and effect the changes that will improve teaching and learning at all levels, from pre-kindergarten through university settings. The essence of the Education Commission is people working together: school superintendents, university and college presidents, business and community leaders, principals, teachers, and parents- an entire community recognizing and supporting high student achievement. We believe this is the structure and vehicle that we need to put in place to ensure our continued progress.

Areas of Focus
Readiness- Every child enters ready to successfully learn in K-12 system

K-20- Students are prepared for post-secondary education and/or the workforce

Educator Preparation/Professional Development- Teachers, counselors, and administrators are well prepared and educated to work successfully in initiatives of Readiness, K-12 and Disconnected Youth
