The Mobile Area Education Foundation, the Southwest Alabama Workforce Development Council, and the Mobile County Public School System are working together on a workforce awareness program that is involving every fourth grade classroom in the Mobile County Public School System. Workforce development is crucial for our area and it is essential that we instill in our children the importance of work and the opportunities that are available. Business volunteers, who are willing to devote an hour, are trained and assigned to a fourth grade class to share their career, why they chose this occupation, skills required to be successful and the importance of academics for future success. The program is proving to be very rewarding for the students as well as the volunteers.
A very special thanks to our 106 business volunteers who decided to make a difference and donated their time to attend training, prepare an interactive presentation and present their career to a fourth grade class in the Mobile County Public School System.  Many volunteers presented multiple times to help cover each of the 225 fourth grade classes.

If you think it would be “cool” to share your occupation with a classroom, contact Melissa Dean at the Mobile Area Education Foundation: 470-5204 or mdean@maef.net OR click here to volunteer online.
